Babywearing experts since 1987

It all began with a baby! Mathew is his name. Little did we know how much our lives would change after his birth in June of 1987. I’ll bet you could say the very same thing as you anticipate the birth of your baby or even hold your little one in your arms.

When Mathew was born, Dr. William Sears, and family, happened to be our neighbor and soon became a friend and Mathew's pediatrician. Martha, his wife, an RN and La Leche League Leader was a huge part of my first days as a new mom with a very fussy baby. I guarantee that I would not have been able to breastfeed so successfully without her help. It was the Sears who showed me to wear Mathew in a baby sling. They promised it would help our budding relationship. Dr. Sears told me that if I would attach myself as a new parent to Mathew, I would be a better mom and Mathew would thrive.

What he mean't by 'attach' is: breastfeeding on demand, wearing him several hours each day, and a family bed. In 1987 the idea of ATTACHMENT PARENTING was novel. Very few of my friends were choosing to "attach". But, with the support of my husband and mom, I did! Today...I'm glad we did! What Dr. Sears told us is true. He compared ATTACHMENT PARENTING to banking. He said, "if you will make the deposits to meet Mathew's needs now, when the time comes to make withdrawals in the way of discipline - your parenting will be easier. Not easy...easier"!

Two years after Mathew's birth we had another son, Daniel. Then, when the boys were in elementary school we opened our hearts to foster 4 babies -all four were drug babies. Every parenting skill learned with Mathew (except the breastfeeding, of course) worked to calm these little ones. Wearing them in a sling was magical. Doctors and nurses would exclaim their amazement at the calmness of babies who struggled to kick a drug habit.

In the years following I added several certifications to my portfolio. I am a Certified Lactation Educator/Counselor, Internationally Certified Childbirth Educator, Professional Birth and Postpartum Doula, Certified Happiest Baby Educator, and Certified BLS Instructor (CLE, ICCE, and CHBE). Most importantly, I get to use all of these credentials in real time. I share this training and experience teaching new parents to wear their baby, calm their baby, feed their baby and parent wisely. Those who know me best call me, 'a baby whisperer'.

It is our delight to help new families find solutions. If we don’t sell what you are looking for, we probably know where you can find it–and will help. So please ask!
